Mijenta Blanco is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, bottled at 40% alcohol in a 750ml bottle.
Mijenta was founded in 2020 by former Bacardi CEO Mike Dolan with Maestra Tequilera Ana María Romero, and is made in Arandas (NOM 1499). The agave is slow-cooked in a low-pressure autoclave, crushed with a roller mill, fermented with a special yeast and distilled twice in copper pot stills, then bottled unfiltered. Mijenta says it uses only agave, water and yeast, and the company is a certified B Corp.
Mijenta describes cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, cantaloupe and peach, with fresh fruit and cinnamon on the palate. The Tasting Panel gives it 97 points, Wine Enthusiast (Kara Newman) 93 and VinePair (Tim McKirdy) 92.
It is one of the best-reviewed blancos in its price range, made by one of the few women who hold the title of maestra tequilera.
