Taylor Fladgate 10 Year Tawny Port 750ml

Taylor Fladgate is a Port house that matures its wines in its lodges in Oporto, Portugal. This tawny sits in its Wood Aged Port range, under Rich & Mellow.

It's a blend drawn from the firm's reserves of old cask-aged Ports. The wine is fully aged in seasoned oak casks of about 630 liters, where it slowly turns amber. A reviewer quoted by the producer calls it medium sweet, with 110 g/L of residual sugar.

The producer describes a deep brick color with an amber rim; a nose of ripe berry fruit, delicate nuttiness, chocolate, butterscotch and fine oak; and a smooth, silky palate of ripe fig and jam with a long finish.

Against Taylor Fladgate Fine Tawny Port, the 10 Year Old is the age-statement bottling drawn from old reserves; for nutty, mellow character to sip after dinner, choose the 10 Year Old.

Taylor Fladgate suggests serving it slightly chilled, at 12 to 16°C. It needs no decanting and is ready to drink. The producer pairs it with almonds, walnuts, dark chocolate and blue cheese.
