Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone 2025 750ml

The Saint Cosme Côtes du Rhône is pure Syrah, unlike the Grenache-led bottles that fill most of the appellation.

It comes from Louis Barruol, whose family has owned Château de Saint Cosme in Gigondas since 1490. The estate wines carry the Château name; this one belongs to his négociant range, made from grapes bought from partner growers.

The vines grow on stony Villafranchian terraces in the Gard, in red clay, round stones and limestone sand that keep the Syrah fresh. The grapes are partly destemmed, fermented with natural yeasts in concrete vats and aged about six months in cement rather than oak.

Deep red in the glass, with dark berries, black pepper, violets and a herbal edge, and juicy fruit, fine tannins and fresh acidity.
