Bezel Pinot Noir 2024 750ml

Bezel is a Pinot Noir brand from the Cakebread family of Napa Valley, drawing on 50 years of Cakebread winemaking, and is marketed in the US by Kobrand. Its winemaker, Jane Dunkley, is Australian-born and has 25 harvests behind her.

The 2024 is 100% Pinot Noir from California's SLO (San Luis Obispo) Coast, a cool maritime growing area, where yields were slightly below average that year. Each parcel is selected and fermented separately with its own regime, then the wine is aged in French oak, only 20% of it new. It's 13.5% alcohol and sealed with a cork.

Kobrand describes bright red raspberry, dried oregano and subtle oak, with a hint of toasted marshmallow.

Against J Vineyards California Pinot Noir, Bezel is the brighter, more restrained coastal style with gentle oak; for a Pinot that lets the red fruit lead, choose Bezel.

Serve it slightly cool, around 60°F, with roast chicken, grilled salmon, pork tenderloin or a mushroom tart. It's approachable now, and a short time in the glass opens the aromas.
