Domaine Drouhin Oregon was established in the late 1980s by the Drouhin family of Maison Joseph Drouhin in Beaune, a house founded in 1880. The estate covers 235 acres in the Dundee Hills, and Véronique Drouhin-Boss makes the wine.
All the fruit comes from the family's Dundee Hills estate. It is hand-picked into 25-pound totes, hand-sorted and destemmed, then moved through a four-level gravity-flow winery without pumps. It ages in French oak barrels custom-made in Burgundy. The importer says 2024 began with a cool spring, then a warm, dry summer and fall gave pristine acidity.
The winery describes ruby color, strawberry, fresh florals and thyme on the nose, pomegranate and plum on the palate, and a finish of spice and wild herbs. Wine Spectator calls it supple yet keenly structured, with precise raspberry and cranberry flavors.
Against Joseph Faiveley Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2022, Drouhin's wine is all estate-grown in Oregon; for Burgundian craft with Dundee Hills fruit, choose Domaine Drouhin.
The winery says to enjoy it now or cellar it, and Wine Spectator suggests drinking through 2035.
