Galliano L'Autentico Liqueur 375ml

Arturo Vaccari created Galliano in 1896, and the bright yellow liqueur is still distilled in small copper pot stills. Vanilla and anise lead a recipe of Mediterranean and exotic botanicals, and it is bottled at 42.3%.

It is viscous and golden, with an anise scent, concentrated anise and sweet vanilla on the palate, and a flicker of ginger and pepper heat at the end. The tall, narrow bottle is hard to miss on a back bar.

This is the bottle the Harvey Wallbanger needs, and nothing else gives that vanilla-anise float. The 375ml size is right for most home bars, since recipes call for half an ounce at a time.

Galliano's own classics are the Harvey Wallbanger, a Screwdriver made with vodka and topped with a Galliano float, and the Golden Cadillac with crème de cacao and cream.
