Linie Aquavit 700ml

Linie is the aquavit that goes to sea. The potato spirit, flavored with caraway and star anise, matures in Oloroso sherry casks aboard ship, sailing from Norway to Australia and back and crossing the equator, the "linie," twice. Every bottle lists its voyage on the back of the label. It is bottled at 41.5%.

It is bright gold, with caraway, fennel and spice on the nose, then rye-bread caraway, vanilla and soft oak on the palate and a silky butterscotch finish.

If you are trying aquavit for the first time, start here: the sherry casks and the voyage round off the caraway. It is also the classic bottle for a Scandinavian holiday table.

Linie suggests serving it at room temperature in a tulip glass, with smoked salmon or seafood. It also stands in for gin in a Negroni or a Martini.
