Papa's Pilar Flagship Dark Rum 750ml

Papa's Pilar Flagship Dark is a solera blend of nine molasses rums from Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Venezuela and Florida, finished in bourbon barrels, Port casks and Oloroso sherry casks. It is named after Ernest Hemingway's fishing boat, and the brand's distillery is in an 1878 tobacco warehouse in Key West. It is bottled at 43%. The rye whiskey barrel finished version is a separate bottling.

It is fruity and rich, with caramel, cherry, fruitcake, banana cake and orange marmalade.

Pick it when you want a dark rum that works neat and in cocktails. It is richer and more layered than Goslings Black Seal; for the lighter style, try Papa's Pilar Blonde.

Sip it on the rocks with an orange twist, or use it in a Dark 'n Stormy with ginger beer and lime.
