Portillo Malbec 2025 750ml

Portillo is a brand of Bodegas Salentein in the Valle de Uco, Mendoza, Argentina. Winemaker Carlos Bauza made the 2025, and Palm Bay imports it to the US.

It's 100% Malbec from the El Oasis estate at 1,150 meters (3,772 feet). The grapes are machine-harvested and destemmed in the vineyard, cold-macerated in tank and fermented with pump-overs three times a day. After fermentation the wine stays on its skins for a while, goes through malolactic fermentation and then rests in tank until bottling. It's 13% alcohol, vegan and sealed with a screw cap.

Palm Bay describes a deep purple wine with plum and blackberry, fresh natural acidity and ripe, round tannins, and calls it well-balanced and bold.

Against Catena High Mountain Vines Malbec 2024, Portillo is tank-raised and about half the price; for an everyday, fruit-forward Malbec under $12, choose Portillo.

Vinoscout suggests serving it at 16 to 18°C, slightly cool. Pour it with burgers, empanadas, grilled sausages or pizza.
