Primarius Pinot Noir 750ml

Primarius is an Oregon Pinot Noir brand owned by Precept Wine of Seattle, produced and bottled at Primarius Winery in Dundee, Oregon. The name is Latin for "distinguished."

It's a blend of the brand's vineyard sources across Oregon, so it carries the statewide Oregon appellation rather than a single AVA. Alcohol varies from vintage to vintage, from about 12.7% to 14.2% in releases retailers have listed.

The producer's notes for a recent vintage describe red berry and citrus blossom with a hint of honeycomb, then rhubarb, wild strawberry and cherry, soft tannins and a touch of cocoa.

Against Erath Pinot Noir 2022, Primarius costs a little less; for an everyday Oregon Pinot with soft tannins, choose Primarius.

The producer suggests poultry, salmon, and game with mushroom sauces. One retailer says to drink it now or hold it for about five years. Serve it slightly cool, and it works for a weeknight dinner or a relaxed Sunday roast.
