Sorel Liqueur 750ml

Sorel comes from Brooklyn: Jackie Summers launched it in 2012, inspired by the sorrel drink his grandparents brought from Barbados, and relaunched it in 2021. It is made with Moroccan hibiscus, Brazilian clove, Indonesian cassia and Nigerian ginger, and bottled at 15%.

It is bright ruby, with a cinnamon-spiced aroma, a light floral note of hibiscus, baking spice and a dried cherry finish, a little like mulled wine. It is light-bodied and low in alcohol, easy to sip on its own.

This is the bottle for a holiday sorrel punch without boiling hibiscus, and it is local. Pour it for anyone who grew up drinking sorrel at Christmas.

Serve it chilled over ice, warm like a toddy, or topped with sparkling wine. It also adds color and spice to cocktails with rum or gin.
