Tanduay Double Rum 750ml

Tanduay Double Rum blends two rums from the Philippines, one aged up to 16 years and one aged 5 years, then marries them for two more years in ex-bourbon barrels. Tanduay dates to 1854 and makes its rums from molasses of Negros Occidental sugarcane. It is bottled at 40%.

It is rich and nutty, with candied coconut, chocolate-coated nuts, espresso and gingerbread, and a long marzipan and hazelnut finish.

Tanduay Double is the bottle to try if you have never had Asian rum: richer and sweeter-tasting than Tanduay Silver. For a Caribbean rum in the same price range, compare Appleton Estate 12, which is funkier and drier.

Sip it on the rocks, or use it in an Old Fashioned. It also works with cola and a squeeze of lime, or with ginger ale over plenty of ice.
