Via Carota is the West Village restaurant, and the bottled line is its bar list put into glass, straight from the restaurant to the shelf. The Cosmo is triple-distilled vodka with tart cranberry, lime and orange zest, topped off with sparkling wine.

Juicy and bright, tart from the cranberry and lime, the orange showing up on the finish. Nothing to shake, measure or garnish: chill it, open it, pour.

Choosing between this and a canned cosmo, the sparkling wine is the difference. Less syrup, more lift.

Keep them cold and pour into a coupe or a wine glass; one bottle fills one glass properly. Good with chips, oysters or anything fried.
