Castelbarry A Tete Reposee Languedoc Red 750ml

A Tête Reposée is made by Castelbarry, an artisanal cooperative in Montpeyroux, in the Hérault near Montpellier, which makes AOC Languedoc, Languedoc Montpeyroux and Terrasses du Larzac wines. The co-op carries a sustainable winegrowers label and has worked on environmental and social responsibility for 15 years.

It's an AOP Languedoc red blended mainly from Syrah, with Carignan and Grenache, grown on limestone slopes. The wine spends under six months in temperature-controlled stainless steel, with no oak and no added sulfites. It's 13.5% alcohol.

Expect a fruity, lightly smoky and toasty nose, a fresh, generous palate and a licorice finish. It's an easy-drinking, classic Languedoc red.

Against Honoro Vera Organic Monastrell, A Tête Reposée is fresher and made with no added sulfites; for an unoaked, low-intervention weeknight red, choose Castelbarry.

Serve it slightly cool, around 60°F. Pour it with grilled sausages, roast chicken or a cheese board.
