Francis Coppola Diamond Collection Claret 750ml

Claret is the crown jewel of the Diamond Collection, according to the Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville, Sonoma County. Delicato Family Wines has owned the winery since 2021.

It's a Bordeaux-inspired, Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend drawn from vineyards around California. The winery says portions are aged up to 12 months in French and American oak, and it gives the current release's alcohol as 14.5%. The bottle carries no vintage on our listing, and the exact blend changes from year to year.

The winery calls it dark and luscious, with blueberry, clove and vanilla on the nose, then black pepper, black plum and cocoa, firm tannins and a long finish.

Against Apothic Red, the Claret is drier and more structured; with steak or lamb, choose the Claret.

The winery suggests porcini risotto and rack of lamb. It also suits grilled steak, burgers and aged cheddar. Give it a few minutes in the glass to open up.
