Menage a Trois Red Blend 750ml

Ménage à Trois started in St. Helena in 1996 and has been part of Trinchero Family Estates since 2004. This Red Blend is the original wine behind the name: three grapes in one bottle.

It's a California blend of Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery doesn't publish the percentages, and the bottle carries no vintage.

The winery describes fresh, ripe, jammy fruit, with blackberry and raspberry jam, a generous mouthfeel and firm tannins, and calls it forward, silky and soft.

Against Apothic Red, Ménage à Trois is a touch brighter and less mocha-sweet; for a fruit-forward red to please a crowd, choose Ménage à Trois.

Pour it with burgers, barbecue, pizza or a weeknight pasta with meat sauce. A slight chill, about 20 minutes in the fridge, keeps the fruit fresh. At under $10 it's an easy bottle to bring to a party or keep on hand for a casual dinner.
