El Enemigo Cabernet Franc 2023 is a dry red wine from Mendoza, Argentina, made mostly from Cabernet Franc. It comes from El Enemigo, the winery of Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena, and is grown at roughly 4,600 to 4,850 feet in Gualtallary, in the Uco Valley, on rocky, chalky soils.

The 2023 blends in 10% Malbec, both grapes drawn from the Adrianna Vineyard and a neighbouring Gualtallary estate.

Expect red berries, black cherry and currant, with black pepper, tobacco and a fresh herbal lift. It is medium-bodied, with supple tannins, bright acidity and a long finish. Jeb Dunnuck gives it 95 points, Wine Advocate 93, James Suckling 93 and Tim Atkin MW 91.

If Malbec is your usual Argentine red, this shows the fresher side of Mendoza: lighter on its feet, with pepper and acidity in place of plush dark fruit.

Pair it with smoky barbecue, herb-roasted pork, lentil stew or eggplant Parmesan.

Shop more Cabernet Franc and other reds, plus all red wine, with Brooklyn pickup and same-day delivery across NYC.

Jeb Dunnuck

"Another outstanding vintage of Cabernet Franc, the medium-bodied 2023 was blended with 10% Malbec and is expertly balanced, high-toned in acidity and herb, with lovely red berry fruit and notes of peppercorn."

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Another one of the more impressive offerings among the El Enemigo bottlings, the 2023 Cabernet Franc includes 10% Malbec, both drawn from Adrianna Vineyard and aged in a mix of foudre, barrels and stainless steel."

James Suckling

"A fruity cabernet franc with aromas of ripe black cherries, currants and hints of tobacco, dark olives and spices. Sappy and deliciously fruity, with a medium body, a juicy core of fruit and fine, linear tannins."

Tim Atkin MW

"Blended with 10% Malbec – varietal reds are unusual at El Enemigo – this is a co-fermentation from the Adrianna Vineyard and the Dutre family's estate, both in Gualtallary."
