Flor de Cana 12 Year Rum 750ml

Flor de Caña 12 Year is aged 12 years in bourbon barrels. Since 2023 the number on the bottle is a true minimum age; older labels used averages, and the Centenario name has been dropped. The rum is made on one estate at the foot of the San Cristóbal volcano in Nicaragua, family-owned since 1890, and the producer says it has no additives and no added sugar. It is bottled at 40%.

It is smooth and balanced, with red fruit, honey, toasted nuts, vanilla and baked apple.

This is a dry, sugar-free sipper for under $40. It has more depth than Flor de Caña Gran Reserva; compared with Ron Zacapa 23, it is less sweet and less expensive.

The producer's Flor Sparkling is one and a half parts rum with a splash of sparkling water and an orange peel. It is also good neat or on the rocks.
