Fords Gin was created by bartender Simon Ford with Charles Maxwell, master distiller at Thames Distillers in London, as a gin built for cocktails. It is bottled at 45%, and the brand is now owned by Brown-Forman.
Its nine botanicals, including juniper, coriander, jasmine, bitter orange, lemon and grapefruit peel, steep for 15 hours before distillation in small pot stills. That long steep gives an oily, full texture, with bright citrus, florals and a long, spicy finish.
For a bar-quality London Dry at an everyday price, Fords is the gin to buy. For a softer, more floral style, compare Plymouth Gin; for a herbal Scottish gin, see The Botanist.
Use it in a Negroni, a Martini or a Tom Collins. The bottle has a measuring scale on the side, which makes batching cocktails at home easy.
We carry it in the 1-liter size. More bottles are under gin, and the rest of our liquor is a click away. Pick it up at our Brooklyn store or get same-day delivery in Brooklyn, Manhattan & Queens.
