Hedges Family CMS Red Blend 2023 is a dry red wine from Washington State, made with organic grapes and bottled at 14% alcohol in a 750ml bottle.

CMS stands for the three grapes in the blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Tom and Anne-Marie Hedges started the winery in 1987 and soon planted vines on Red Mountain, where they became one of the area's pioneering families. Today their daughter, Sarah Hedges Goedhart, makes the wines. CMS is the family's most approachable red, made for everyday drinking rather than long aging.

Look for black cherry, blackberry and raspberry with a little cocoa, vanilla and black pepper, on a medium-bodied palate with smooth, soft tannins and a lingering finish.

If you like Bordeaux-style blends but want a little more fruit and spice for the price, this is an easy pick for a weeknight bottle.

Serve it slightly below room temperature with burgers, pizza, grilled sausages, barbecue or roast chicken.
