Quinta do Crasto Douro Tinto 2023 is a dry red wine from Portugal's Douro Valley, bottled at 14% alcohol. It blends Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca in equal parts with a little Tinta Barroca.
Quinta do Crasto is a family estate on the north bank of the Douro river. The grapes come from vines over 20 years old on terraced schist slopes; the wine is fermented in stainless steel and mostly aged there too, with 15% spending six months in French oak.
Expect ripe red berries, violets, herbs and spice, with a juicy, fresh palate and fine, powdery tannins. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gives it 90 points, calling it juicy, fresh and harmonious.
The Douro is best known for Port; this shows the same grapes as a fresh, fruit-first dry red at an everyday price.
Serve it with grilled meats, roast lamb, roast chicken, pasta or semi-aged cheeses.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The primary and fruit-driven 2023 Tinto has some spicy nuances that complement the berry, herbs and floral notes from 15% of the volume aging in French oak barrels for six months. It's juicy, fresh and harmonious, with some powdery tannins." |
