Tenute Neirano is a Piedmont producer whose wines are imported to the US by Monsieur Touton Selection in New York City. This bottling carries the Barbaresco DOCG appellation in the Langhe hills of Piedmont.
It's 100% Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, and retailer Saratoga Wine reports 30 months in oak casks followed by six months in bottle before release.
Saratoga Wine describes a ruby color with garnet hints and a velvety, full-bodied palate of red cherry, raspberry, white pepper, tobacco and spice. James Suckling's note, on the importer's page, finds maraschino cherries, blood orange, violets and peonies on an elegant, medium-bodied palate.
Against Vietti Barolo Castiglione 2021, Neirano is a Barbaresco at well under half the price; for an everyday Nebbiolo from a classic Langhe appellation, choose Neirano.
James Suckling calls it drinkable now but best from 2026. Give it an hour in a decanter, and serve it with red meats or aged cheeses, as Saratoga suggests, or with mushroom risotto.
