Caymus-Suisun Grand Durif Suisun Valley 2020 750ml

Caymus-Suisun is a project of the Wagner family behind Caymus Vineyards. Their vineyard in Suisun Valley covers more than 240 hectares, and the Caymus-Suisun winery opened around May 2022.

Durif is another name for Petite Sirah, and "Grand" refers to the wine's soft, grand style. Suisun Valley became an AVA in 1982; it's about one-tenth the size of Napa, with a maritime climate shaped by San Francisco and San Pablo bays. It's sealed with a cork.

Expect luxurious softness, with blueberry, blackberry, plum and cocoa, and vanilla from oak aging.

Against Stags' Leap Petite Sirah, Grand Durif is the softer, plusher style; for a lush Petite Sirah from the Caymus family, choose Grand Durif.

Serve it at 60 to 65°F. Pair it with braised short ribs, barbecue or a burger.
