Decoy was founded in 1985 and is part of The Duckhorn Portfolio, the Napa family of wineries behind Duckhorn Vineyards. Dana Epperson is the winemaker.
Since the 2020 vintage the Sauvignon Blanc has carried a California appellation; before that it was Sonoma County. It's fermented in stainless steel to keep the fruit fresh. Decoy also makes a Limited North Coast bottling and a lower-calorie Featherweight version.
Expect citrus and stone fruit, with mango, pineapple and white peach, a lightly creamy texture and a bright finish.
Against Josh Cellars, Decoy is riper and fuller; for a weekend bottle with a Napa pedigree, choose Decoy.
Chill one for the weekend and pour it with grilled shrimp, fish tacos, roast chicken or a bright summer salad. It's best within a year or two of the vintage.
