Domaine Jean-Paul Balland Sancerre 2025 750ml

Domaine Jean-Paul Balland Sancerre 2025 is a dry white wine from Sancerre in France's Loire Valley, made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc and bottled at 14% alcohol in a 750ml bottle.

The Balland family farms vineyards around the village of Bué, in the heart of Sancerre. Jean-Paul Balland has handed the estate to his daughters: Isabelle, a trained oenologist, makes the wines, and Elise runs the business side. Their vines include plots on the well-known slopes of Le Grand Chemarin and Le Chêne Marchand, on chalky "caillottes" and clay-limestone "terres blanches" soils. The grapes are gently pressed, fermented with natural yeasts at cool temperatures and left on their fine lees with gentle stirring for extra texture.

Expect grapefruit, lemon, peach and white flowers on the nose, then a clean, lively palate of citrus and stone fruit with the chalky minerality Sancerre is known for, and a long, fresh finish.

If you like New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc but want something less tropical and more mineral, this is a classic place to start.

Serve it chilled with goat cheese, oysters, grilled fish or a spring salad.
