Duckhorn The Discussion Napa Valley Red Blend 2020 750ml

The Discussion is the flagship Bordeaux-style blend of Duckhorn Vineyards, part of the Duckhorn Portfolio in Napa Valley. It sits at the top of the Duckhorn range and is drawn from diverse Napa Valley vineyards rather than a single site.

Duckhorn's website now shows newer vintages, so the 2020 blend details aren't listed there. For reference, the winery's 2022 is 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in new French oak and six more in neutral barrels.

James Suckling describes the 2020 as "a posh, polished and dark fruit-saturated blend that glides easily across the palate."

Against Inglenook Rubicon 2017, The Discussion is the younger wine at the same price; for a polished modern Napa blend, choose The Discussion.

Duckhorn's own advice is simple: save it for a big night. Decant it and serve with a dry-aged ribeye or roast lamb.
