Jean Foillard Beaujolais-Villages 2023 750ml

Jean and Agnès Foillard took over the family domaine in 1980, and most of their vines are on the Côte du Py, near Villié-Morgon. Foillard is one of the "Gang of Four" Morgon growers who followed Jules Chauvet's natural approach.

This Beaujolais-Villages is 100% Gamay from seven hectares of vines aged 20 to 55 years, on granite-heavy, high-elevation sites just outside the crus. The importer, Kermit Lynch, lists the farming as certified organic. The wine is aged seven months in concrete tank, with no oak. It's 13% alcohol.

The importer calls it silky and seductive, with rose petal, red fruit, pomegranate and stony notes, and balanced tannin and acidity.

Serve it a little cool with roast chicken, charcuterie, mushroom dishes or a cheese board.
