Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Extra Añejo is a 100% blue agave tequila from the town of Tequila in Jalisco, Mexico, bottled at 40% alcohol in a 750ml bottle, here in the 2025 collector's box.
Cuervo first released Reserva de la Familia in 1995. It is distilled twice in copper pot stills at La Rojeña, which Cuervo calls Latin America's oldest working distillery, from agave cooked in brick ovens, then aged at least three years in small new American and French oak barrels. Each hand-blown bottle is wax-dipped, numbered and signed. Every year a Mexican artist designs the box; the 2025 box, by Ana Segovia, is titled "No Señorita, Esos Colores son Prohibidos" and shows a charro suit in fluorescent and pastel colors.
Cuervo describes oak, almonds, apples, olives and cinnamon with a long, silky finish. The Beverage Testing Institute calls it fancy, old and decadent.
It is Cuervo's flagship sipping tequila and a collectible gift; see all collector bottles.
Sip it neat in a tulip glass.
