New York Distilling Company Perry's Tot Navy Strength Gin 750ml

Perry's Tot is a navy-strength gin bottled at 57%, made by New York Distilling Company in Brooklyn, which Allen Katz co-founded in 2011. It is named for Commodore Matthew C. Perry, who ran the Brooklyn Navy Yard in the 1840s; a tot was the Royal Navy's ration measure.

Botanicals include juniper, citrus peels, cardamom, cinnamon and star anise, with New York wildflower honey. It is briny and peppery on the nose and hot, herbal and powerful on the palate.

For a Negroni or a Gimlet that will not get lost, Perry's Tot is the bottle to buy; for a gentler gin from the same distillery, try Dorothy Parker Rose Petal. For a classic strong London Dry, compare Tanqueray.
