Rémi Pouizin farms a 15-hectare family estate in Visan, in the southern Rhône, run as a mixed farm with chickpeas, lavender, olives and animals. His US importer, Bobo Selections, says the estate has been certified organic and biodynamic since 2000.
Vice Versa is an unusual co-ferment: a retailer lists the 2024 as half Cinsault, a red grape, and half Viognier, a white grape, fermented together. Retailers describe hand harvesting, native yeasts, stainless steel and no fining or filtering, with minimal sulfites. There's no oak.
Retailers describe raspberry and cranberry with peach, apricot and honeysuckle from the Viognier, bright acidity and very little tannin. It's a light, juicy red.
Against Jean Foillard Beaujolais-Villages, Vice Versa is lighter and more aromatic; for a chilled red on a warm day, choose Vice Versa.
Give it 20 minutes in the fridge and serve it with charcuterie, grilled fish, roast chicken or a picnic spread.
