Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Aveta Sauvignon Blanc 2024 750ml

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars made the Cabernet that won the 1976 Judgment of Paris, and AVETA is its Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc.

The 2024 is 69% Sauvignon Blanc, 24% Sauvignon Musqué, 4% Sémillon and 3% Muscat Canelli. Most of the fruit is from Napa's Oak Knoll District, including the Danika Ranch estate vineyard, with about a quarter from Rancho Chimiles in Wooden Valley. It fermented 70% in stainless steel and 30% in neutral French oak, then spent six months on light lees, stirred twice a month.

The winery describes lemongrass, kiwi, tangerine, grapefruit, guava and dried herbs with a hint of wet straw, bright acidity and a savory, elegant finish.

Against Decoy, AVETA is more layered and aromatic; for a serious Napa white, choose AVETA.

Wine Spectator suggests drinking it through 2034. Serve it lightly chilled with scallops, roast chicken or soft cheese.
