The Balvenie is a Speyside single malt distillery in Dufftown, Scotland, known for still running its own floor maltings and for finishing its whisky in a second type of cask. That makes it smooth, honeyed and easy to like. On our shelf: 12 Year DoubleWood, 12 Year Single Barrel, 16 Year French Oak and 21 Year PortWood, plus rare bottlings like the 25 Year Rare Marriages, 27 Year and the Stories range when we can get them.
Tip: start with the 12 Year DoubleWood, aged in bourbon casks and then sherry casks, and drink it neat or with a splash of water. The 21 Year PortWood is the classic gift bottle. Older releases arrive in small numbers and change through the year.
