Amarás Verde is a joven (unaged) mezcal from Oaxaca, Mexico, made from eight-year-old espadín agave and bottled at 42% alcohol in a 750ml bottle.
Amarás was founded in 2010 by Santiago Suárez and Luis Niño de Rivera to work with mezcaleros across Oaxaca. Verde is its everyday espadín, and each year's bottle carries a label by a different artist; the 2024 series featured six artists on the theme of memory and migration. Label art varies.
Expect cooked agave, green apple, light citrus and gentle herbal smoke.
It is an easygoing espadín at a value price; for a smokier pick at a similar price, see Pelotón de la Muerte.
Use it in a mezcal margarita, paloma or spritz, or sip it with orange slices.
Shop more mezcal and all tequila and mezcal, with Brooklyn pickup and same-day delivery across NYC.
