Bulleit 95 Rye Whiskey

Bulleit's rye is the bottle that put a 95% rye mash bill in front of most American drinkers. It came out in 2011 and the recipe hasn't moved: 95% rye and 5% malted barley, distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and bottled at 90 proof as a straight rye.

That much rye shows up straight away as pepper and dry spice, but the whiskey stays lean rather than hot. There's vanilla and a little honey from the barrel, a russet colour, and a clean finish that doesn't hang around. It was built for stirring, which is why so many bars pour it in the well.
