Chateau Lagrange, a distinguished 3rd Classified Growth nestled in the renowned Saint-Julien appellation, boasts a rich winemaking heritage dating back to the Templars' era on the estate. Under the visionary leadership of Matthieu Bordes and Keiichi Shiina, Chateau Lagrange maintains its commitment to excellence. The estate's Second Wine, Les Fiefs de Lagrange, epitomizes the pinnacle of this winemaking journey.

Vineyard Excellence: Situated in the picturesque town of Saint-Julien, the Chateau Lagrange vineyard spans two gravel ridges, covering an expansive 118 hectares. The vines, averaging 28 years, contribute to the production of Fiefs de Lagrange.

Precision Winemaking: The winemaking process at Chateau Lagrange is a meticulous art. Manual harvests, hand sorting, and optical sorting ensure the selection of the finest grapes. Thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks and controlled vinification temperatures of 26-28°C define the process. Fermentation lasts 15 to 22 days, accompanied by daily pour-overs, rack & return, or punch-downs. Malolactic fermentation follows.

Artful Aging: After an early blend in January, Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2019 undergoes a 13-month aging process, with 20% in new French oak barrels. The final finesse involves fining with egg whites before the ultimate blend is achieved prior to bottling.

Blend Mastery: The Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2019 blend is a symphony of Cabernet Sauvignon (80%), Merlot (18%), and Petit Verdot (2%).

Tasting Notes: Indulge in the harmonious red wine experience of Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2019. A delightful bouquet intertwines subtle red and black fruit with enticing spicy notes. Gourmet and creamy on the palate, this wine unveils a pleasing freshness and optimal balance.

"The wine's tannins dominate this tight, dark wine with its dry core. There are hints of extraction, giving bitterness initially that will need to blow off. As the wine ages, the wood aging will ensure that it smooths out and gives greater open black fruit richness. Drink from 2024."

"The second wine of Château Lagrange, the 2019 Les Fiefs De Lagrange is a charming, delicious wine in the making and has plenty of classic Saint-Julien purity and elegance as well as notes of cassis, violets, damp earth, and cedarwood. It’s medium-bodied, nicely balanced, and already hard to resist. It’s going to drink nicely for a solid decade."

"Blackcurrant florality on the nose. Great sweetness and juice with creamy edges, too, and again the aromatics come out. Soft, playful, nice depth, unshowy but nicely balanced and well presented. It’s for easy drinking. Gentle and comforting. Drink now. Drinking Window 2022 - 2030."
