Don Fulano Reposado is a 100% agave tequila from Jalisco, Mexico, aged in French oak and bottled at 40% alcohol in a 750ml bottle.
Don Fulano comes from the Fonseca family, who have farmed agave for five generations, and is distilled at Tequileña (NOM 1146) in the town of Tequila from estate-grown agave. The agave is cooked in a low-pressure autoclave, crushed with a screw press and roller mill and fermented partly with the fibers; most is distilled in copper pot stills and some in a copper column. It then rests eight to eleven months in new and used French Limousin oak. E. & J. Gallo imports it.
Expect vanilla bean, dark chocolate, prune, cooked agave and coconut. The Beverage Testing Institute gives it 93 points and VinePair (Aaron Goldfarb) 93, calling it full-bodied and slightly smoky. Tequila Matchmaker verified Don Fulano as additive-free in 2020.
French oak gives it a richer, spicier style than most reposados.
