Milagro Reposado is a 100% blue agave tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, aged in oak and bottled at 40% alcohol in a 750ml bottle.
Milagro was founded in 1998 by Danny Schneeweiss and Moy Guindi and is owned by William Grant & Sons; master distiller Pedro Juárez makes it at NOM 1559. The agave is cooked about 36 hours in brick ovens, fermented 72 hours in stainless steel, distilled first in a pot still and then in a column still, and aged four months in American oak.
Milagro describes vanilla, caramel and spice on the nose, then caramel, peach and black pepper. Wine Enthusiast (Kara Newman) gives it 90 points for its sweet scent of vanilla and tropical fruit.
It is a light, easygoing reposado at a mid-range price, made in the same style as Milagro Silver.
Use it in margaritas and palomas, or sip it over ice.
