Herradura Reposado is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila from Amatitán in Jalisco's Tequila Valley, Mexico, aged in oak and bottled at 40% alcohol. We carry it in 750ml and 1L sizes.
Casa Herradura (NOM 1119) has made tequila at Hacienda San José del Refugio since 1870 and is owned by Brown-Forman; Herradura says it introduced its reposado in 1974 as the original reposado. The agave is steamed 26 hours in brick ovens, fermented with wild airborne yeast in open tanks and distilled twice, then aged 11 months in charred American white oak, nine months more than the legal minimum.
Herradura describes roasted agave with anise and dried fruit, and a butterscotch and autumn-spice finish.
Its long time in oak puts it close to an añejo in richness; for Herradura's lightly rested blanco see Herradura Silver.
Sip it neat or on ice, or use it in a tequila old fashioned.
