J. Lohr Seven Oaks Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

J. Lohr ages its Seven Oaks Cabernet in American oak, not French, and that's where its toasted pastry and vanilla notes come from. It comes from Paso Robles on California's Central Coast.

In the 2023 bottling, winemaker Brenden Wood blended 86% Cabernet Sauvignon with 9% Petite Sirah and a little Petit Verdot, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The wine spent 12 months in 60-gallon American oak barrels, 18% of them new.

J. Lohr describes black cherry and currant with toasted pastry, hazelnut and vanilla, and a soft, juicy palate with gentle tannins. The winery calls it balanced and fruit-forward on release, and says it will age seven years or more.
