Bread & Butter keeps its everyday Cabernet deliberately simple: one grape, California fruit, and a short spell in oak. It's the bottle the brand calls classic and simply enjoyable, and that's a fair description.
The wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from California, made by a team led by winemakers Linda Trotta and Matt Shuplock. It spends about five months in a mix of French and American oak. The brand also makes Napa Valley and Reserve Cabernets; this is the one without a sub-appellation.
The back label talks about vanilla, toasted oak and mocha. On the palate there's fresh berry and blackcurrant with a hint of black pepper, soft tannins and a smooth finish.
If you buy Josh for its softness, try this next time; it has a touch more mocha and spice. For more bottles in this range, see our wines under $20.
It's a burger and braised-meat wine. Pour it at about 60°F, and it keeps a couple of days after opening with the cork back in.
More bottles are in our Cabernet Sauvignon, and every California wine is listed too. Pick it up at our Brooklyn store or get same-day delivery across NYC.
