Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay 750ml

Kendall-Jackson has been family grown since 1982, and Vintner's Reserve is its signature Chardonnay. It carries a California appellation, drawn from coastal vineyards up and down the state.

The winery ferments and ages more than a thousand separate vineyard lots before blending them, which keeps the style steady from year to year. Its New Zealand importer reports that the 2024 spent about four months in oak, close to half French and half American, with only a small share of new barrels.

The winery describes pineapple, mango and papaya with citrus, then vanilla and honey, a hint of toasted oak and butter, and a long finish. The 2024 is 13.5% alcohol.

Against Josh Cellars Chardonnay, K-J is riper and more tropical; if you want the classic California Chardonnay most people picture, choose Kendall-Jackson.

Serve it chilled with roast chicken, crab cakes, grilled salmon or creamy pasta. It's an easy bottle to bring when you don't know what's being served.
