Laphroaig Quarter Cask is matured first in larger casks and then finished in small quarter casks, about a quarter the size of a standard cask. It is bottled at 48% without chill filtration.

The small casks give the spirit more contact with the wood, a technique Laphroaig took from the nineteenth century, when smaller casks were carried by horse. It is full-bodied, with burning peat embers, coconut and banana on the nose, then deep smoke with a surprising sweetness, and a long, dry finish of smoke and spice.
