Matsui The Kurayoshi 25 Year Pure Malt Whisky 750ml

Matsui Shuzo is a sake brewery and shochu distillery in Tottori, at the foot of Mount Daisen, and The Kurayoshi is its line of pure malt whiskies. A pure malt is a blend of malt whiskies, here aged at least 25 years.

Matsui has said the malts include whisky distilled in Scotland and brought to Japan, blended with Japanese malt, then aged and cut with the soft ground water of Tottori. The range is bottled without chill filtering and with no added colour.

It's for the collector who wants a very old malt from a Japanese house. For a Japanese single malt made entirely at one Japanese distillery, look at Yamazaki 18.

Pour it neat into a small tulip glass and take your time.
