This brut comes from Mumm Napa, the California arm of the Mumm sparkling house. Pernod Ricard split the brand into a Mumm Sparkling range and a super-premium Mumm Napa line, and the producer now sells this wine as Mumm Sparkling Brut Prestige, appellation California. Wine Spectator reported in December 2025 that Trinchero agreed to buy Mumm Napa from Pernod Ricard.
It's made by the traditional method, the same second fermentation in bottle used in Champagne, and rests about 16 months on the lees on average. The producer's sheet lists 49% Chardonnay, 48% Pinot Noir and 3% Pinot Gris and Pinot Meunier, from grapes grown throughout California. It's a Brut, 10 g/L residual sugar, 12.5% alcohol.
The winery describes pale gold color, red apple, juicy pear, nectarine, strawberry and a hint of biscuit, with apple, stone fruit, citrus and "subtle notes of marzipan and toast" on the palate.
Against Roederer Estate Brut, Mumm costs less; for an everyday California brut for brunch, choose Mumm.
The winery says to drink it now and pair it with sushi, cheese or brunch.
