Luc Belaire Rare Luxe Sparkling Wine 750ml

Luc Belaire is a sparkling wine brand of Sovereign Brands. Rare Luxe is made at a Burgundy maison by fifth- and sixth-generation father-and-son winemakers, and the label carries the date 1898.

The 2021 brand sell sheet calls it a Blanc de Blancs of 100% Chardonnay, while the current brand site describes a blend of French white varietals. The liqueur de dosage is Chablis Chardonnay aged six months in Burgundy oak casks, and the sell sheet gives 40 g/L of residual sugar, a demi-sec level of sweetness rather than brut. It's 12.5% alcohol, with no vintage.

The sell sheet describes grapefruit, peach, apricot and honeysuckle with a hint of brioche, and calls it decadent yet refreshing.

Against Luc Belaire Rare Rosé, Rare Luxe is the white bottling with a sweet 40 g/L dosage; for a sweeter, fruit-forward white sparkler at the same price, choose Rare Luxe.
