Yamazaki, near Kyoto, opened in 1923 as Japan's first malt whisky distillery and is owned by Suntory. Its single malts are fruity and layered, and some are aged in Mizunara, a Japanese oak that adds notes of sandalwood and incense. We carry Distiller's Reserve, the 12, 18 and 25 Year, and limited editions such as Spanish Oak, Puncheon, Peated Malt and the Mizunara releases when we can get them.
Tip: start with Distiller's Reserve or the 12 Year, neat or in a highball. Age-stated Yamazaki is allocated, so stock changes often.
