Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 750ml

Beringer has farmed Knights Valley since the mid-1960s, put the name on a label in 1974, and helped it become its own appellation in 1983. This Cabernet comes from that 600-acre vineyard, 17 miles northwest of the winery.

Knights Valley sits in Sonoma County, next to Napa's northern end, on rocky, well-drained soils. Beringer belongs to Treasury Wine Estates. The 2022 spent 14 months in French oak, 30% of it new, and went through malolactic fermentation. It's 14.5% alcohol.

The winery describes dark fruit with savory and spicy notes, a structured palate and a long finish.

Under $30, this is the best estate Cab on our shelf for the money. If you like it, the same company's BV Napa Valley is the Napa equivalent.

It's ready now and will keep for several years. Serve it with a steak, lamb chops or a mushroom ragù.
