Clase Azul Durango Mezcal 750ml

F94

Clase Azul Durango is a joven (unaged) mezcal from the state of Durango in northern Mexico, made from wild cenizo agave (Agave durangensis) and bottled at 44% alcohol in a 750ml decanter.

It was the first mezcal from Clase Azul México, the company behind the famous hand-painted tequila decanters. The wild cenizo grows 12 to 15 years before harvest and is roasted in underground pits. The black matte decanter is decorated with beadwork by Huichol artisans.

Falstaff gives it 94 points, finding lots of freshness, with plantain, freshly mown grass, lemon zest and white pepper.

At 44% it is the strongest of the three Clase Azul mezcals; see also Guerrero and San Luis Potosí, or all Clase Azul.

Sip it neat, slightly chilled, in a small copita.
