Heitz Cellar has made Martha's Vineyard Cabernet from Tom May's vineyard since 1966, making it one of Napa's earliest vineyard-designated Cabernets. The 2014 is one of the vineyard's most celebrated recent vintages.

The 34-acre vineyard sits on the western Oakville bench against the Mayacamas Mountains, and the wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Heitz ages it a year in neutral oak, three years in new French Limousin barrels and a year in bottle, so it's about five years old on release. 2014 was a dry, cool season. It's 14.5% alcohol.

The vineyard is known for a mint and eucalyptus note, which Wine Enthusiast found at the core of this wine, alongside cedar, red fruit and orange peel.
