La Marca was founded in 1968 and is made in Treviso, in the Veneto, with fruit from what the brand calls "5,000 local growers." It is owned by E. & J. Gallo, and La Marca was Gallo's first Prosecco brand.
It's a DOC Prosecco rather than a DOCG. Glera makes up most of the blend, and Pinot Noir gives the pink color; the split changes by vintage, from 89% Glera and 11% Pinot Noir in 2019 to 85% and 15% in 2021. It is made by the Charmat (Martinotti) method, with at least 60 days of secondary fermentation in tank. European labels call it Extra Dry.
The producer calls it "crisp, lively and playfully pink," with citrus, honeysuckle, peach and pear and hints of ripe red berries.
Against Viarae Prosecco Rosé, La Marca is the original from the same Treviso producer and comes in a 187ml size too; for brunch or a spritz, choose La Marca.
The producer suggests it for brunch and spritzes, including a Rosé Spritz and a Veneto 75.
